私は幼い頃から何かを作って誰かを喜ばせることが好きでした。
子どもを見ていても感じますが、何かを「作る＝創造する」という事は、人間の最も根源的な喜びの一つではないかと思います。

Since childhood, I have found joy in making things for others.
Seeing children at play reminds me that creating is a deeply human instinct — one of our most natural and essential sources of happiness.

美大を志し東京芸術大学彫刻科へと進学してからこれまで、芸術活動やプロジェクトを通じて、様々な作品や空間、あるいは対話の場を創造する事に携わってきました。活動を通じて「芸術の価値と可能性」を問い続けてきたように思います。

Since studying sculpture at Tokyo University of the Arts, I have engaged in diverse artistic projects, creating works, spaces, and environments for dialogue.
My practice has consistently been driven by a desire to explore the value and potential of art.

私の中には“アートを身近なものに”というテーマが一貫してありました。生活とアートが一体化していくようなきっかけづくりができないか。それがArtOpus.SHONANの立ち上げにつながりました。

ブランド名の｢Art＝芸術＋Opus.＝作品｣には、アートを音楽の様により身近に感じていただきたいという思いから、“身につけるアート作品”という意味が込められています。

私が活動の指針としているのは、世界的彫刻家イサム・ノグチの「芸術は人類への贈り物」という言葉です。単に自己表現に留まらず、人に感動を届けたり、物事の価値や意味をポジティブに変換したり、日常生活の一隅を明るくしたり、地域の文化資産になっていく、芸術にはその様な存在意義があると思っています。

2021年、私は茅ヶ崎市でSHIN SHIGEOKA STUDIO を設立しました。この時期は、未曾有のパンデミックで外出を制限され、人と会うことも、活動すらもままならず、生活から彩りが失われ、世の中全体に暗い空気が広がっていました。

そんな最中で感じたことは「湘南で暮らす日常に対する感謝の想い」でした。
家族と暮らす当たり前ではない時間。同じ地域で暮らす方々の優しさ。いつも美しい表情を見せてくれる海や空。近所で見る事ができる草木や花など。今ここにある日常の美しさを改めて実感し、非日常ではなく身近な日常を大切にする事が私たちの人生を豊かにすると思いました。

At the core of my work has always been a consistent theme: bringing art closer to everyday life.

I began to ask myself whether it might be possible to create opportunities where art and daily living naturally come together. This question ultimately led to the creation of ArtOpus.SHONAN.

The name ArtOpus comes from Art and Opus (a work of art).

It reflects my wish for people to experience art as something familiar and accessible, much like music — as a wearable work of art that can be part of everyday life.

The guiding principle of my practice is a quote by the world-renowned sculptor Isamu Noguchi:

“Art is a gift to humanity.”

I believe art exists not only as self-expression, but as something that can move people emotionally, transform the value and meaning of things in a positive way, brighten small moments of daily life, and eventually become part of a community’s cultural heritage.

In 2021, I established SHIN SHIGEOKA STUDIO in Chigasaki.

This period coincided with an unprecedented global pandemic, when movement was restricted, meeting others became difficult, and even creative activities were limited. Daily life lost much of its color, and a heavy sense of uncertainty spread throughout society.

During that time, what I came to feel most strongly was a deep gratitude for everyday life in Shonan.

Time spent with my family — never something to be taken for granted.

The kindness of people living in the same community.

The sea and sky, always revealing new and beautiful expressions.

The trees, plants, and flowers found close to home.

By rediscovering the beauty of what already exists around us, I realized that cherishing the ordinary moments of daily life — rather than seeking the extraordinary — is what truly enriches our lives.

その様な、湘南の日常生活の中で感じる美しさや優しさを作品（アクセサリー）という形にしてお届けし、周りの方々の日常生活の一隅を少しでも明るくできないか。この想いがArtOpus.SHONANの原点にあります。

By shaping the beauty and kindness felt in everyday life in Shonan into wearable works of art, we hope to gently brighten small moments of daily life for those around us.This heartfelt intention lies at the very core of ArtOpus.SHONAN.

私たちの生活を彩り、また湘南という地域の文化を形作る一つのブランドになれることを目指し日々活動しています。
